European Mobility Week 2022

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is the European Commission’s flagship awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility. It encourages behavioural change in favour of active mobility, public transport and other clean, intelligent transport solutions.

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2022 annual theme ‘Better connections’ seeks to highlight and foster synergies between people and places that are offering their expertise, creativity and dedication to raising awareness about sustainable mobility and promoting behavioural change in favour of active mobility, in addition to reaching out and making connections between existing groups and new audiences.

There are three award categories that fall under the umbrella of sustainable urban mobility awards: the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) Award and the EU Urban Road Safety Award.

Through these awards, the European Commission seeks to recognise local authorities who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of sustainable urban mobility awareness-raising, sustainable urban mobility planning and road safety. While each of the award categories are closely related to the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK campaign’s themes, only the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK awards require direct participation in the campaign to apply. Participation in the campaign is strongly encouraged for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) Award and the EU Urban Road Safety Award, but is not a prerequisite.
